On April 11, 2026, the Department of English hosted a heartfelt day-long event at the Multipurpose Hall, bringing together past, present, and future scholars in a vibrant celebration of community and heritage.
The program seamlessly combined the Alumni Get-Together, the English Club Reception, and a Farewell Ceremony for our graduating students.
The presence of our esteemed university leadership elevated the event:
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Honourable Vice Chancellor (Chief Guest)
Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Honourable Pro Vice Chancellor
Prof. Dr. M. Shahidullah, Honourable Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
Dr. Md. Shamim Mondol, Chairperson, Department of English (Chair)
The program was structured to honour the evolving journey of our academic community:
Alumni Get-Together: A heartfelt "Homecoming" where our cherished alumni returned to campus to reconnect with their roots, sharing professional insights that inspired current students and faculty alike.
Farewell Program: A dedicated ceremony to bid a nostalgic adieu to our graduating students, celebrating their academic milestones and wishing them success as they embark on their professional journeys.
English Club Reception & Farewell: A significant transition for the department’s lead student organisation. The club officially welcomed its new members and respected moderators of the club, while extending deep gratitude and a formal farewell to the outgoing members and respected moderators for their dedicated service and leadership. This gathering was more than a routine event; it was a testament to the enduring bond within the Department of English. We wish our graduates the very best and look forward to the continued success of our alumni network.
As the formal proceedings concluded, the atmosphere shifted to one of pure joy and artistic expression. The Cultural Program showcased our students' multifaceted talents, featuring rhythmic dance performances, soulful musical renditions, and dramatic recitals that captivated the audience. The energy in the Multipurpose Hall was palpable, as faculty and students alike joined in the festivities.
Adding to the excitement of the day was a highly anticipated Raffle Draw. Laughter and cheers filled the room as winners were announced, adding a touch of playful suspense to the afternoon’s memories.
To our departing students: you leave behind a legacy of hard work and brilliance. While we are sad to see you go, we are immensely proud of the individuals you have become. The Department of English extends its warmest gratitude and best wishes for your future endeavors. Always remember that you have a home here at Green University.
