Green Business School (GBS), Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), in collaboration with Prime Bank PLC, successfully organized "Empowering Youth – Session 2," a flagship academia–industry engagement initiative designed to strengthen university–corporate collaboration and enhance students' employability through experiential learning, professional networking, and direct interaction with industry leaders.
The inaugural session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Mohammad Delwar Hussain, Chairperson, Green Business School (GBS), Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), who emphasized the importance of sustained academia–industry collaboration in developing competent, innovative, and industry-ready graduates. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Tareque Aziz, Dean, Green Business School, highlighted the University's commitment to experiential learning through strategic corporate partnerships that enhance students' academic and professional development. Prof. Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman, Honorable Treasurer, underscored the significance of strengthening collaboration between the banking sector and higher education institutions to prepare future professionals capable of meeting emerging industry demands. Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor, appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to embrace innovation, lifelong learning, ethical leadership, and professional excellence. In his inspiring keynote address, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Honorable Vice Chancellor, commended the collaborative partnership between Green University of Bangladesh and Prime Bank PLC, reaffirming the University's commitment to bridging academic knowledge with industry practice and preparing graduates to excel in an increasingly dynamic and competitive global workplace.
The academic sessions featured keynote presentations by senior executives of Prime Bank PLC. Ms. Shaila Abedin, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Liability & Women Banking, shared valuable insights on leadership, professional excellence, workplace values, and career development. Mr. M. M. Mahabub Hasan, Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Inclusion & School Banking, discussed financial literacy, financial inclusion, and the role of youth in developing an inclusive financial ecosystem. Mr. Mahmudul Hasan Akhand, Executive Vice President and Head of Human Resources, delivered an engaging session on employability, recruitment practices, interview techniques, competency development, and career success in today's competitive job market.
A major highlight of the program was the Live Mock Interview Session, where six students from different academic disciplines participated in a realistic corporate recruitment simulation conducted by HR professionals from Prime Bank PLC. The exercise provided practical exposure to contemporary recruitment processes, communication strategies, interview skills, and employer expectations. Outstanding performers were recognized through the Best Performer Award.
The event also included an interactive Question-and-Answer session, allowing students to engage directly with corporate leaders on career planning, banking, employability, financial inclusion, and professional development. The most insightful contribution was recognized with the Best Participant Award.
The corporate representatives highly appreciated the confidence, professionalism, analytical ability, and communication skills demonstrated by GUB students, noting significant improvement in engagement and interaction compared with previous sessions.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Umma Salma, Assistant Professor, Green Business School and Program Coordinator, followed by a networking lunch that facilitated meaningful interaction between university leadership, faculty members, students, and corporate professionals.
