The Freshers’ Orientation Program for Spring-2026 semester of the Department of Textile Engineering was successfully held on 2 February, 2026. The program was organized to warmly welcome the newly admitted students and to introduce them to the academic environment, faculty members, laboratory facilities, academic rules, and co-curricular activities of the department. The Honorable Professor Dr. Md. Saiful Azad, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Green University of Bangladesh, graciously joined the program as Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of academic discipline, professionalism, and personal development throughout university life.
The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Nitai Chandra Sutradhar, Distinguished Professor and Chairperson, Department of Textile Engineering, Green University of Bangladesh. In his concluding remarks, he congratulated the freshers and encouraged them to pursue academic excellence while preparing themselves for the challenges and opportunities of the textile industry. The program was further enriched by insightful discussions delivered by faculty members of the department. Dr. Md. Shariful Alam, Associate Professor, discussed the prospects and challenges of the textile job market, while Dr. Jagannath Biswas, Associate Professor, emphasized the importance of mentorship programs and social capital in shaping students’ academic and professional growth.
In addition, the orientation featured welcome remarks, student introductions, reflections from freshers, faculty introductions through multimedia presentations, an overview of laboratory facilities, academic rules, and a presentation on the activities of the Green University Textile Club (GUTC). As part of a sustainability-focused initiative, newly admitted students were also presented with a sapling, a paper-based notebook, and an eco-friendly plantable paper pen containing seeds, symbolizing the department’s commitment to environmental awareness and sustainable development.The enthusiastic participation of students and the dedicated efforts of faculty members, student volunteers, and the organizing team made the program a memorable and meaningful occasion.
