The Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), is organizing a Memorial Seminar titled “Remembering Professor K. A. M. Saaduddin: The Legacy and Future of Sociology in Bangladesh” on 08 August 2026 at the Conference Hall (A-302), Green University of Bangladesh.This seminar is being arranged to honor the life, intellectual contributions, and enduring legacy of Professor K. A. M. Saaduddin (1936–2026), one of the pioneering figures in the development of sociology in Bangladesh. Throughout his distinguished academic career, Professor Saaduddin made significant contributions to sociological scholarship through his teaching, research, and writings on development, modernization, poverty, and social change. His works have inspired generations of students, researchers, and academics and continue to shape sociological discourse in Bangladesh.The event will bring together eminent scholars, sociologists, researchers, faculty members, students, and admirers of Professor Saaduddin to reflect on his remarkable contributions and to engage in meaningful discussions on the contemporary challenges and future directions of sociology in Bangladesh. The seminar aims not only to commemorate his life and achievements but also to create a platform for critical reflection on the role of sociology in addressing the social realities and developmental challenges of the country.The program will be graced by Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Uddin, Vice Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest, while Professor Dr. M.
