The Department of Textile Engineering successfully organized an industrial visit to Alim Knit (BD) Ltd., located at Kashimpur, Gazipur, Dhaka, on 25 April 2026 (Saturday).A total of 31 students participated in this visit, accompanied by assigned faculty member Mr. Md. Dulal Hosen and lab technician Mr. Md. Sayed Anowar. The team departed from the GUB permanent campus at 8:30 AM and reached the factory at 11:30 AM. Due to a heavy traffic jam, we were at least 1 hour late.Upon arrival, the team was warmly received by Mr. Md. Omar Faruqe, Senior Merchandiser, and Mr. Md. Kallol Hossain, HR Manager, along with other officials of the organization. An introductory session was conducted where the company’s background, operational activities, and compliance standards were explained. They also entertained the participants with snacks and refreshments. Then the students were guided through various sections of the factory under the supervision of industry professionals and faculty members. Alim Knit (BD) Ltd., established in 1991, a concern of the Mondol Group, is a well-established knit-based ready-made garment manufacturing industry in Bangladesh. The company specializes in producing high-quality knit garments for men, women, and children, mainly for export to international markets such as Europe and North America. The company employs approximately 3,500 workers and staff, contributing to its large-scale apparel manufacturing operations.The factory is equipped with modern and vertically integrated facilities, including knitting, dyeing, finishing, cutting, sewing, quality control, and packaging units, enabling a complete production process within a single premise. The company maintains strict compliance, quality assurance, and workplace safety standards, ensuring efficient production and sustainability. Through its commitment to innovation, productivity, and ethical practices, Alim Knit (BD) Ltd. continues to contribute significantly to the growth of Bangladesh’s ready-made garments (RMG) sector.During the visit, students explored the following key sections:Sample Development SectionR&D DepartmentDyeing and FinishingETP SectionCutting SectionSewing SectionQuality Control DepartmentFinishing and PackagingCompliance & Safety UnitsEach section provided students with practical exposure to modern machinery, production techniques, and quality assurance systems. The students observed real-time industrial processes and interacted with factory personnel to gain insights into workflow management, productivity, and compliance practices.The visit concluded around 3:00 PM. It is worth mentioning that these industrial visits are an integral part of our curriculum. It also closes the gap between industry and academia. The GUB authority had provided full logistic and administrative support to make this visit a success. The team returned to the permanent campus at approximately 6:00 PM.
